Do you pay attention to what you’re consuming first thing in the morning?
And I don’t mean just food.
What we read, watch, think and who we interact with all affect our subconscious minds and direct our attitude for the day ahead.
Did you know that first thing in the morning is the time we are most impressionable? 🤔
We can choose to use this to our advantage or we can pollute our minds with negativity, news drama, and things out of our control.
This is by far one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in life and in healing complex post traumatic stress disorder, the anxiety and depression and low self esteem that go along with it, and severe chronic illness.
When you awaken in the morning, notice what you do first.
Do you pick up your phone and check texts, emails, social media? What feelings does this provoke? Does it help you to start your day confidently and with a clear mind and good intentions, or does it start things out on a sour note?
Our minds are impressionable and early morning right after waking is the perfect time to go inward. Here are a few tips to start your day off on the right foot and improve your quality of life, health and relationships:
1. Upon waking, leave your phone alone. It can wait a half an hour! Instead, reflect on how you’re feeling; don’t judge, but assess.
2. Think grateful thoughts. It’s easy to let our minds wander to the negative; our egos are addicted to stress and drama. What is going RIGHT? What would you like to see more of? Sitting in simple meditation is a great way to assess and clear our minds of useless clutter. Notice without judgement. Prayer works, too!
3. Set your intention(s) for the day. How do you want to feel today? What are one or two things you can focus on that will help you inch towards your goals?
4. Focus on good feeling emotions. It’s easy to get sucked into a toxic spiral from reading useless comments on social media or thinking about how your boss wronged you last week. Feel into how you’d like to feel and breathe into that emotion whenever it arises. It will eventually be easier to tap into with some practice.
If you’re like me, it’s easy to let others around us affect our mood and outlook and even self beliefs, especially when we start off our day on the wrong foot.
So start your day off right, leave your phone on the charger for a bit, and set yourself up for a hopeful, peaceful, inspiring day ahead! ☀️
Remember that it’s okay to say no, to unlike or unfollow those who aren’t in alignment with your morals and values or who are not serving your purpose of peace. 🙏🏼
You only have one shot to feel and be your best during this lifetime, and how you choose to spend your early mornings can impact your goals greatly.
Wishing you a peaceful, healing week ahead, especially during this craziest time in the holiday season. We get to choose what matters to us, and can ask ourselves, ‘is this really worth stressing over?’
All my love! Xoxo ❤️
